Seattle birthday surprise!

I live by the saying "collect memories, not things". And when my boyfriend asked me for the first time what I wanted for my birthday that's what I said. And since then, every year, we both take each other somewhere on our birthdays. Whether its a day trip to Catalina, or a weekend escape to Vegas. The first trip he took me to was a complete surprise, he took me to Seattle. I love Starbucks, and I worked for 3.6 years at Nordstrom (which started in Seattle), so Seattle has always been on my bucket list.

We flew South West, and stayed at the Grant Hyatt Downtown Seattle. The hotel was centrally located, our room faced Nordstrom :) and had a Ruth's Chris steakhouse downstairs where we enjoyed happy hour before heading out to dinner and night time exploring.

We took a food walking tour with Savor Seattle Food Tours, it was very informative of the city and the food places we stopped at. The food was great at each location, we started off with cinnamon donuts, samples of smoked salmon from the famous fish stand where they toss the fish. From there we walked around and learned about the city as well as Pike Place Market, we went through the market stopping at more stands, had some mac and cheese from Beecher's Hand Made Cheese, savory pastries from Piroshky Piroshky a Russian bakery (our favorite stop), my bf and I ended up going back to Piroshky Piroshky for breakfast on our last day (nomskeees). Our last stop was Chukar Cherries, a stand where they sell chocolate covered cherries, we sampled a few varieties from them. I bought some cherry bombs, which

are the defective cherries that do not come out perfectly covered in chocolate, it's a better price and just as delicious.

A must while in Seattle i think would be the food tour, a trip to The Space Needle, and a tour of the Chihuly Glass exhibit next to The Space Needle.

We went in late March which was cold and rainy, i think next time we go to Seattle it will be in the Fall/late summer.
