Travel with Contiki pt.2

Unlike the trip from pt.1, this one was a slow pace tour that Contiki offers. I went with my cousin and 5 other friends. This tour starts in Rome and ends in Madrid (you can choose to go the other way too). In Rome we had a walking tour the evening the day we arrived, after the walking tour we had a group dinner which was all you can eat. The restaurant had a nice show were the waiters sang to us.

From Rome we went up to Florence, both of these locations had the same options and tours as my pt.1 blog. From Florence we headed to the Italian Riviera, French Riviera, Barcelona, and ended in Madrid. We had plenty of time on this trip to explore on our own with out feeling rushed. We had beach time at both the Italian Riviera and the French Riviera. This time around my cousin and I did most of the optional tours. In the Italian Riviera we stopped at CInque Terre, Portovenere and Monterosso. We happen to be in Portovenere August 17th which the locals call Festa Della Madonna Bianca, where they cover the church at the end of the mountain in candles. We had a boat tour at night to go see this which was a once in a life time experience. Who knows if i will go back during that time again. In the French Riviera we went to Nice and Monte Carlo, there we had an optional diner and a trip to the famous casino. No cameras are allowed inside the casino so be careful. They do offer to hold the cameras while you look around and partake in the gambling. Another optional tour/excursion was to a flamenco dinner and show in Barcelona. That show was the highlight of the trip. It was so much fun, a great way to experience the Catalonian culture. In Barcelona we also had another option, a bar hopping bus tour. We went to 3-4 bars, each had 1-2 free drinks and included entrance to Opium, one of Barcelona's hottest clubs. As with all other tours, you hit all the major tourist spots, and with this we had plenty of time to go off on our own and see other things, eat at random places, shop, ect. I plan to do another Contiki soon, and will make it a slow pace tour like this one.
